Wherein Our Heroine Wants a Cup of Tea but One Is Not Forthcoming.

I will assume that it is in part the large meal (veggie roti, sweet potato frites and a couple of amazing stouts) that we had last night that accounts for my complete lack of appetite this morning.  To complicate matters, and I'm (not particularly) sorry if this is TMI, but the new year saw fit to gift me first thing in the morning of the 1st with the worst period I've had in quite a while. So, this will probably skew things for this first week as I de-tox and have PMS at the same time. Look out, world! *cue carnival music*

It was damned cold when I walked Circe and all I wanted was a cup of tea when we got home. Instead, I had a hot shower. I foresee a lot more hot showers this month. A lot. Weighing myself this morning, I was 174 lbs. This is a considerable gain this year (10+lbs) and while I know it's not really surprising, considering that I haven't been able to ride in 2 months, and I *am* a Boozethusiast, it's still running counter to my self-image. I will be working out more (I already started up again in December) and hoping to gain some healthy muscle mass and shed that heavy, tired poisoned feeling.

Breakfast was a scant mixed cup of strawberries and blueberries while I hurriedly checked my email- no matter how early I get up, I always seem to run out of time. Who knows. I think morning gnomes steal it.

Cleverly hitting up the local greengrocer before getting to work, I managed to forage for baby carrots, a couple of apples and bananas. Sadly, I had to choices of banana- Extreme Green (tm) and Dubious Brown. Opting for brown, the nice man at the cash register gave me them for free! Score- up two elderly bananas. I am a queen and I feast on my bounty.

Mid morning snack was a banana and an apple and some carrots.

Lunch was a tetrapak of coconut water, most of a pint of cherry tomatoes, some baby carrots and another banana.

I had to pee. A LOT. I didn't drink any more water than usual. It would be impossible for me to drink less, as Water is Gross and I avoid it at all costs. I drink fancy mineral water to trick my body. This was pretty tricky when working retail but I managed.

Somehow I don't have a caffeine withdrawal headache- yet. We shall see tomorrow.

My amazing guy made me a super great smoothie when I got home- orange/banana/strawberry. I literally inhaled it.

Dinner was a totally made up dip, consisting of two red peppers and about 2 cups of cauliflower, pureed and augmented with a bit of lemon juice, raw garlic and some herbs. Turned out pretty good, and we ate it with cucumber, celery and carrot sticks. I'm contemplating a dill something-something this week. Mmmm, dill.

Today saw a fairly constant snacking; as a result, I didn't have a food sugar trough that I usually get around lunch (although tea was still noticeably absent.) but I had no idea how long it genuinely took to masticate my way through a cup and a bit of carrot sticks. To be fair, it was super busy at work too- it took me the better part of an hour just to eat an apple.

at no time was I dying of hunger and knowing that I could literally stuff my face with the fruit and veggies I had with me was oddly freeing. I kept my nutrient-dense foods to the afternoon and evening, traditionally times when I get hungrier and need some large snacks and a big dinner.

It's probably psychosomatic, but I noticed that I am less congested in the sinus region than I normally am; cold weather really does a number me and I get permanent sniffles. Probably due to this my sense of smell seemed way jacked up; I was noticing how everything smelled a lot more than I normally do. Which isn't always a good thing, when what I am smelling is bus stop.

Here's a link to what I ate today. According to my chart I managed to achieve 73% carb, 19% fat and 8% protein. The fat is higher than it should be, but not bad for my first shot out the gate. It is solely due to the second oz. of almonds I had to eat- otherwise my calories would have been dangerously low. (i.e, less than 1000) I think next time I will make a banana heavy smoothie instead to increase calories only. I will also note that my iron was a little low- tomorrow will be a greens heavy day to make up for it.

we're also going to make the hell outta some kale chips.
