January 2nd, Johnny and I are going to be starting a raw food diet, based on the 80/10/10 philosophy. Basically, it's 80% carb, 10% fat 10% protein. You eat veggies for nutrition, and fruit for calories and a very small serving of something like an ounce or two of nuts or 1/2 an avocado for fat. It should go without saying that my portion of the cleanse will be vegan, while Johnny will be incorporating high quality small amounts of things like raw salmon into his diet as required.

I'm super pumped to do this cleanse. We're not planning on having it be a long term choice- getting into something for 30 days is a great way to hit the reset button on your body and shake out the toxins, and psychologically healthy because you know you're 'only' doing it for 30 or so days.

I'm also terrified to do this cleanse- of course, we're also eschewing alcohol and caffeine for this, and while I couldn't care less about no booze, caffeine is the glue that holds me upright many days.

This is going to be hard. But we bought a juicer that I'm way too excited to start using, so, yeah.

But, honestly, I'm due a hard food challenge. Going vegan was a walk in the park which I've never regretted or been tempted to back away from; and I know that I'm going to feel great!...once the detox period (typically 5-10 days) is over.

I'll be posting what I eat every day here, for future reference for me and anyone else trying this. I'll also be posting what's going on in my crazy head while this is happening, which should be pretty entertaining to read.

wish us luck.
